Join Hawthorne Volunteer Ambulance Corps

Become a Member

If you are interested in joining Hawthorne Volunteer Ambulance Corps, please click the button below to fill out the brief form. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. We are currently accepting applicants from Hawthorne, NJ and its neighboring towns.

Once you submit your interest form, you will be contacted by one of our officers to discuss membership. If you are accepted to interview, please fill out our Membership Application and submit to secretaryhvac@hawthorneems.org.

If you are already an EMT, you will join us as a probationary member.

New members who are not already EMTs will join the corps as Observers, which enables you to ride along with us on calls and experience the culture of HVAC before committing to taking the EMT course. Observers must spend at least three months with us before enrolling in a class. If you choose to enroll in the EMT training course as an HVAC Observer, we will cover the cost of your tuition in exchange for your commitment to joining our organization. Course graduates are expected to commit at least one year of full time riding to HVAC, or they may be liable for the cost of their class tuition.

Visit our Frequently Asked Questions page for more information.

Become an AuxilIary HVAC Member

The HVAC Auxiliary is a group of individuals who want to support the endeavors of the Hawthorne Volunteer Ambulance Corps, but do not care for the 'blood and guts' of emergency calls, or simply don’t have as much time to dedicate to being on-call. Members of the HVAC Auxiliary are not required to complete emergency training and they do not take emergency calls, but are a vital part of our fundraising efforts. If you have a desire to help the Hawthorne Volunteer Ambulance Corps without getting involved in the patient care aspect, the HVAC Auxiliary might be the right volunteer opportunity that you're looking for!
